The Alaska Satellite Facility (ASF) of the Geophysical Institute operates a satellite Ground Station (GS) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The Geophysical Institute engages in research covering a wide range of geophysical processes ranging from the center of the earth the center of the sun and beyond. ASF's GS is one component of the worldwide NASA Ground Network (GN), supporting data downlinks for NASA and foreign agency satellites.
