SAR Data Center
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) operates the Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) project. As key components of EOSDIS, twelve interlinked Data centers are operated by various facilities across the United States. Eight of these Data centers are Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAAC) including the Alaska Satellite Facility (ASF). ASF is the DAAC that specializes in high-latitude synthetic-aperture-radar (SAR) data collection, processing, archiving, and distribution. These data are supplied by SAR sensors on the European Remote Sensing Satellite 1 (ERS-1) and ERS-2, the Japanese Earth Resources Satellite (JERS-1), Canada’s RADARSAT Satellite (RADARSAT-1), and Japan’s Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS).
