Satellite Tracking Ground StationAbout STGS

The Alaska Satellite Facility (ASF) operates a Satellite Tracking Ground Station (STGS) with two antennas: a 10 meter X band and, an 11 meter X and S band system, and distributes data, focused on but not limited to, synthetic-aperture-radar (SAR) data primarily to scientific users. ASF is part of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Near Earth Network (NEN) that consists of an Orbital Network and a Suborbital Research Range. The ASF STGS currently supports the QuikSCAT, SAMPEX, COSMIC, Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere (AIM), Fast, Affordable, Science and Technology SATellite (FASTSAT), Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE), Satelite de Aplicaciones Cientificas-D (SAC-D), and SCISAT-1.
