This product contains the trajectories of all grid points over a time interval between time Tstart and Tstart + nΤ=Tend. For example, the start time Tstart could be at fall freeze-up or at the spring-summer transition. T is the period of product generation and n is an integer greater than or equal to 1. Tend is typically at the end of the season of ice tracking. These products contain the following information for each Lagrangian cell (initially 10 km by 10 km): 1) ice motion; 2) deformation; 3) ice age and thickness; and 4) backscatter histograms.
These are gridded datasets produced from the Lagrangian datasets. The 7 gridded parameters are: ice age, ice thickness, backscatter histogram, multiyear ice fraction, divergence, vorticity and shear. Data values cover a 3-day period on a 12.5 x 12.5 Km grid. Each of the datasets contains one month of these product files.
High-resolution radar imagery of the Arctic Ocean is being acquired on a routine basis. These sequential radar observations, from RADARSAT, are transformed into estimates of ice motion, deformation, age and thickness by the RADARSAT Geophysical Processor System (RGPS).
