SAR Image of Bering Glacier, April 30, 1993 - Shows first clear evidence of faster flow.

Arrow 1. The dark zone above this arrow is a region of wet snow on the glacier surface. Arrow 2. The spring snow (firn) line is apparent midway between the terminus and the Grindle Hills (Arrow 4). Arrow 3. Points to crevassing near the northwestern margin of the valley glacier. Arrow 4. A bright area of crevassing has developed next to the western end of the Grindle Hills. Arrow 5. Water is forming into ponds between undulations in the glacier's surface.
