Talkeetna

Location - Tigger Lake

The ALISON site near Talkeetna was on Tigger Lake. This lake can be found at the end of Tigger Lake Road. Talkeetna is 3.6 miles north-northwest of the lake.


The are a large number of lakes in the Talkeetna area. The river along the left edge of this image is the Susitna River.

Tigger Lake is at the end of Tigger Lake Road (center of the image). The road along the left edge of the image is Talkeetna Spur.

People

Robert Henry, a National Parks Service ranger in Talkeetna, set up an ALISON site on Tigger Lake. He wanted to make the site available to local school children.


This National Parks Ranger Station is in Talkeetna. It is located on B Street in town, about 100 miles south of the entrance to Denali National Park. This ranger station is the home of Denali's mountaineering rangers. Expeditions to Mt. McKinley and Mt. Foraker must stop here for their permit and mountain orientation.
