Location - Scout Lake

The ALISON study site in Sterling was on Scout Lake at 60.5335°N, 150.8491°W, just south of the Sterling Highway about 1.5 km west of Sterling Elementary School. The site was located at the west end of the pond just offshore from Allan Miller’s home. At the opposite end of the lake is a small State Park. Scout Lake is ~900 m long and ~300 m wide.

People

The ALISON study site in Sterling was run by Allan Miller and his 6th grade students at Sterling Elementary School. Originally from upstate New York, Allan has been teaching in Alaska for 18 years, most of them in Sterling. He and his wife Joan are avid skiers and they rganized the ski events for the Arctic Winter Games in Kenai in 2006.
