Americas ALOS Data NodeAbout AADN
The AADN was established by ASF in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to support the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s (JAXA) Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) mission. JAXA launched ALOS in January 2006 with a planned 3-year mission life. As of January 2009, the mission has been extended an additional 5 years.
The AADN is one of four ALOS Data Nodes working in cooperation with JAXA through the ALOS Project Implementation Plan. The other three nodes are operated by JAXA, the European Space Agency, and Geosciences Australia.
Representing users in the Americas, the AADN provides ALOS data from its two optical sensors and one synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensor to customers in North, South, and Central America.
